Let’s face it we all are or have been broken vessels at some point in our lives. Our broken minds, broken spirits, broken bodies, broken world, are all a part of brokenness. The inability to function in the state that we are in. Our raggedness, every ounce of pain and despair are felt in the depths of brokenness. Brokenness is another way to describe being “crushed in spirit.” Whether this is from the loss of a loved one, trials, tribulations, struggles, addiction, depression or insecurity. Brokenness can make you feel that your very existence should be questioned, when you don’t see a way out, when you feel that there is no purpose you can fulfill. When you thought you could piece that thing back together, when you thought you could crazy glue all the fragmented pieces of your life together and you realize there is just no way it’s going to hold. It is at that very moment that God is the closest to you. He is there! And in this moment… we realize, we need Him. We need Jesus!

Even in the midst of your brokenness, God has made a way for you, God doesn’t ask us to pick ourselves up and come meet him, NO! He meets us where we are, in the very spot we are in, where we feel like we can’t take a step, he meets us there. And it is there where he will help you catch your breath. Jesus meets us there and he lets us know that we don’t have to face it alone. He tells us that he is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit, Psalms 34:18. The heart and the spirit cries out and the only comfort and healing that can be found is in Him. That….is the Beauty in brokenness.

Jesus extends mercy in our time of need. This Brokenness guides us closer to God who makes us whole. So my friends, brokenness is not insignificant, yet the significance is that there is something beautiful in the brokenness that propels us toward a Savior who knows our brokenness, who has felt what it feels like to be broken. He will bound up our wounds and It is God who has the ability to transform our very pain into purpose. It is He who can give meaning to every situation which allows us to connect with others who have experienced the same. God is a God of restoration. He will restore you in a way that you never expected. God is also a God of refuge, it is in him where we can find that safe place. Though you may feel knocked down, defeated and even destroyed, get ready for your big comeback. No destructive plan is greater than God’s redemptive plan for our life.
