How does this happen? How can someone love me before I even know them. The only example I can remotely come up with to understand this is how a mother has a deep love and connection with her child while still in the womb. Parents take great care in planning for the arrival of their new little blessing. They comb over every detail to make sure everything is just right for their new arrival. Each detail is planned with love and thoughtfulness. From the decoration of a baby’s room, to each piece of clothing, to where the baby will sleep, to what kind of blankets will make them feel most comfortable. What comfort toys would he/she need? Every detail is planned out with the baby in mind. Not only does these plans start at infancy, but even before the baby arrives, parents are planning their child’s future. Deep consideration goes into planning so that this child has everything they need.
In this same way, but better, God has loved and planned for us. Ephesians 1: 4-5 tells us that “even before he made the world, he loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.” Then it goes on to say that “God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ.” But here is the part where I want you to pay attention, the last part of verse 5 is the part that blows my mind. “This is what he wanted to do and it gave him pleasure.” God took pleasure in planning our life for us. Oh, how he must really Love us!
Then in Ephesians 1:1 it tells us that God has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm in Christ Jesus. He has then provided everything we need. Not part of what we need, not some of what we need, but everything we need and gave us an inheritance! What a wonderful God we serve.
So remember how loved and provided for you are. That every detail was thought of concerning you and I. That God did not spare his own Son but gave him up for all of us – Romans 8:32. This is the God that people need to know about. Our Father who loved us, before we knew him.
