I’ve always used the term “let me drop a nugget,” when I’ve felt like I had a piece of information that I thought was important. Nuggets were something so important and good to have or know. Now, nuggets can be informational but can also be opinion-based. Either way, Oh boy do I have some nuggets for you today!
GOD – God gets a bad wrap! Let me explain what I mean. People tend to blame God for everything without even knowing who he actually is. His very character has been misinterpreted. God is not a genie in the sky or some hit man to use at your discretion whenever someone does something you deem as wrong. Nor is he hiding in every corner of your life waiting to jump out and torture you for doing wrong. God is a loving father who who wants the very best for you. He IS a Holy God, but he loves you with an everlasting love. He wants relationship with you. He has plans to prosper you. He wants to see you live a redeemed life. But there are expectations as with any parent but perfection is not one of them.
PASTORS – Pastors/Ministers are people too. Sometimes people fall into making these individuals the gods of their lives. There is only one God who is perfect in all his ways. God’s shepherds are not perfect people. Now I’m not referring to false teachers, or any of the nonsense we see happening today with some church leaders who really don’t know God. What I mean is the women and men of God who truly have heeded the calling of a shepherd, they are going to mess up sometimes. If you happen to fall privy to one of these mistakes, pray for them. Also believe it or not, they need refreshing. They pour into the lives of others constantly and it is not an easy job to lead.
FORGIVENESS – is not acceptance. Sometimes people are reluctant to forgive because they feel like they are accepting the behavior or that they are signaling that they are okay with the situation. That is not the case. Forgiveness means that you refuse to let that person’s behavior, actions or any situation cause you to hold a grudge and harbor bitterness. By no means does forgiveness equal acceptance. In fact, forgiveness is freedom for you. Freedom from hatred , roots of bitterness, and any of those things that will hinder you. Also know that forgiveness does not mean that the relationship will be the same. Sometimes it can be repaired and sometimes it cannot.
COMMUNITY – is important. Everyone needs a tribe. I know sometimes people may say they don’t need anyone. That is simply not true. We were created to have relationship with the father and others. It is very important to do life with others. We need people we can depend on, laugh with, cry with, celebrate with, mourn with. People who we encourage and who encourages us. People who hold us accountable and vice versa. We should bring community with us to others. It shouldn’t be exclusive where no one else can be a part of it. Again, everyone needs someone.
LOVE – Love is the best! To love and to be loved. There is nothing like it in the world. How can I argue, fight, be jealous, be hateful etc. when I’m busy showing love to others. Love doesn’t care about offense, Love doesn’t keep score. Love causes you to grow in so many ways. Not that it is always easy, not that you will always get it right. But purpose to love and show love everyday.
